Air Drying Clay GS - White
Description
This clay is a flexible, air-drying ceramic clay with a firing range of 15 °C–1200 °C. The clay can be used to create sculptures and for throwing on a potter's wheel. Normally, it is sufficient to allow the clay to air dry. If you want to achieve even greater strength, you can supplement the drying process after a few days by drying the objects in an oven at a maximum temperature of 100 °C. Objects that have been air-dried for a few days can easily be painted with pens, watercolors, or acrylic paints.
Objects that have been dried and painted are not food safe as they are not waterproof. The dry objects can also be fired and glazed at up to 1200 °C to become food safe. 2.5 kg.
Information
Perfect for modeling and decorative objects. If the clay is too dry: knead in a little water. Store remaining clay in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Allow to dry slowly at room temperature for 2-5 days. Can be optionally post-cured in an oven at max. 100 °C for 1-2 hours to increase strength. The clay must be completely dry before being dried/fired in the oven, otherwise it may crack. Can be painted with pens, watercolors, or acrylic paints.
Can also be fired at 1200 °C to produce food safe ceramics. Avoid placing damp clay in the oven (risk of cracking).
Do not use dried, painted works as utility ware (not waterproof), in the microwave or outdoors. The objects must not come into contact with open flames.
Max temp: 1200°C
Shrinkage after drying: 8-10%, shrinkage at 1070°C: 3%.
Absorption at 1070°C: 11%. Non-toxic.
