Dark Magma
Description
Mayco's stoneware glazes are preferably applied with a soft fan brush on bisqueware. Fired to between cone 5 and cone 6 (1200°C - 1230°C). Many colors perform very well even at higher temperatures, see pictures, tested before application in production. 473 ml. Ready-mixed. See more information here.
This glaze may be quite thick in consistency when first opened, due to its composition. Simply add water and stir until you achieve a brushable consistency.

Information
Magma was developed to create a rough, cratered surface. The thicker the application, the more textured the surface will be. Magma can be directly applied to bisqueware or in combination with other mid-range glazes. The amount of dimension and cratering created with these glazes is directly a result of how thick the glaze is applied. A thinner application will produce a less dimensional surface with minimal cratering. It will have more of a sandpaper feel. A thicker application will produce a more dimensional and cratered surface.
Cone 6 oxidation (1230°C): Dark Magma is a charcoal-colored, high-texture glaze that creates a rough, cratered surface. The thicker the application, the more textured the surface will be.
Cone 10 reduction (1280°C): Texture slightly flattens. No change in color.
