Description

Plattengobe (kiln wash) from Amaco is used to prevent glaze from sticking to kiln shelves and other kiln furniture during firing. The kiln wash is mixed with water to a cream-like consistency and applied with a brush in two coats to the top surface of kiln shelves. It is then fired to approx. 1000 °C before use.

Worn or older kiln shelves can be ground clean and re-treated using the same method. If applied too thickly, the kiln wash may flake off after firing. In this case, remove all old kiln wash and reapply from the beginning.

Amaco’s kiln wash in a jar (UT-AKW-1) should not be poured out, but mixed directly in the container with water.

Safety

May cause organ damage with prolonged and repeated exposure. 

Do not spray; do not inhale the dust. 

Wear eye protection, a face mask, gloves, and protective clothing.

Do not eat while using this product.

In case of contamination: move to fresh air, rinse mouth, skin, and eyes with water, remove contact lenses if present, and continue rinsing for 10 minutes. 

Wash protective clothing before each use. If you experience discomfort or irritation, seek medical attention.

The contents and container must be disposed of through an authorized waste management facility.
