Description

Kilnwash is used to prevent glaze from sticking to kiln shelves and other items during firing. The powder is mixed with water to a cream-like consistency. Apply 2 thin layers to the top of the kiln shelf with a brush and leave to dry. Fire the with kiln wash prepared shelves at 1000°C (as a bisque firing) before using the shelves. If the application is too thick, the kilnwash will flake off after firing. Scrape off all old kilwash and start again from scratch. Kilnwash should be refreshed at regular intervals to maintain its protective function.
