Orton Pyrometric Cones
Description
Orton Pyrometric Cones are used to analyze a firing curve after firing. Edvard Orton’s cone system is a reliable tool for achieving accurate firings and troubleshooting kiln temperatures. The indicated temperature shows results with a medium-slow firing rate (60 °C/hour).Pack of 25.
See also the PDF under the Documents tab. Note that cones containing iron oxide may bend differently under reduction or when using clays/glazes with sulfur oxides. Orton recommends using iron-free cones for reduction firing at temperatures 970–1150 °C (cones 03–3). Cones from 010–3 contain iron oxide by default (but are also available without iron oxide), while cones 4–10 are only available without iron oxide.
