Patina
Description
Elements™ and Elements™ Chunkies from Mayco are designed to replicate the aesthetics and fluidity of stoneware glazes. They are intended to be fired at cone 06/05 (1000–1040 °C). Elements™ are two-tone glazes consisting of a primary color and a secondary "float" color. When applied to textured surfaces, the float color appears in cracks. Both application and firing conditions influence the appearance of the base and float colors. For opaque results, apply three to four coats using a soft fan brush. The sample shown in the image was fired to 1000 °C (cone 06). Suitable for use on both earthenware and stoneware clay. When fired to stoneware temperatures (above 1200 °C), the glaze changes character in exciting ways and may become runny—see additional information below. 473 ml.
Information
Cone 06 (1000°C) oxidation: Patina is a matte, mottled mint green and copper glaze.
Cone 6 oxidation (1240 °C): Color changes to a glossy pink that breaks over texture; mint green crystallization can occur. Enhanced mobility. Surface issues may occur.
Cone 10 (1280 °C) reduction:
Tip: This glaze will move. Take care when using on vertical pieces – reduce glaze thickness towards the bottom third to minimize run-off. Not overglaze compatible.
