Description

Rose is a Raised Accent Color (RAC) by Spectrum Glazes. These are clay-based glazes (or engobes) that are dispensed from squeeze bottles (not included) for decorating greenware or bisque-fired ceramics. They create embossed or raised patterns on ceramic decorative pieces because the colors do not flatten out during firing at 1000°C. They can be fired up to 1260°C, but the result may be slightly flatter, and some colors may shift. Always test before applying to production pieces. A suitable clear glaze is required to make the piece food-safe. 273 ml

Before use, shake the filled bottle vigorously and then test the flow by squeezing a small amount of engobe onto a piece of paper. This should remove any air bubbles and ensure an even flow of the engobe. If the engobe has become too thick to flow properly, add 2 or 3 drops of water to the bottle. Then replace the cap, shake, and test again. When using the pen on greenware or bisque-fired ceramics, keep the pen tip in contact with the object.  This makes it easier to control the decoration. Additionally, the slight scratching of the surface improves the adhesion between the engobe and the ceramic. The image on the website shows results at 1000°C on white clay.
