White Opal - Dry
Description
Dipping glaze for stoneware. Fires between 1210 °C and 1280 °C (cone 5 to 10). Can be sprayed and used for oxidation, reduction, etc. Since clays can vary and have different properties, we recommend testing the glaze on a small piece of the clay you want to use. Different results at different temperatures. The bag contains powder that should be mixed with water according to the instructions. The bag contains 4,5 kg of powder and yields approximately 4,5 liters of finished glaze.

Information
Cone 6 oxidation (1230°C): White Opal forms a clear- to- milky white gloss surface. One coat produces the clearest finish; subsequent layering increases the incidence of a white precipitate forming. Prominent white to bluish-white colors will emerge where the glaze pools and gathers around surface texture.
Cone 10 reduction (1280°C): White variation lessens leaving a transparent gloss with white pooling.

TIP: White coloration is more visible on darker clay bodies (Buff, Manganese Speck). Thinner application will provide a glossy transparent finish. Thicker application will provide white floating.
Safety
Can be irritating, harmful to health, and environmentally hazardous.
