Spectrum Glazes - stoneware

Spectrum Glazes stoneware glazes are known for their reactive effects and consistent quality. All glazes in this category are lead-free, food safe, and designed for firing at approximately 1200 °C – a standard temperature range for stoneware.

Reactive Glazes are more fluid and may run particularly when glazes are applied thickly.  Be more careful when using them on vertical surfaces. Use a thinner coating of glaze towards the bottom of the piece. The final appearance of the glaze is dependent on firing temperature, glaze thickness and the composition of the clay body being used.  The same glaze can look quite different on different clay bodies.

These glazes are suitable for both exploratory ceramic work and functional ware where subtle color variations and surface depth are appreciated.
